GlassLab2021

Butterfly Projekt (Natalia Palshina, Ralf Arndt & Sasha Pushkin)
openair

The multimedia performance GlassLab is the result of an experiment within the scope of the BHROX-bauhaus-reuse program THE ONLY ARTIST. During the first lockdown, artists of different origins and different artistic backgrounds spent six days together in Glashaus, in order to examine themselves and their environments very carefully. The 2021 version will now be presented in an analog as well as digital performance format in order to reach as wide an audience as possible – without sacrificing artistic quality.

The Only Artist-Residenz – BHROX bauhaus reuse

Artists

Natalia Palshina

Natalia is a freelance choreographer and dancer. She graduated with honors from the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera and has now been dancing for over 15 years in various projects, festivals and theaters, such as the Vienna State Opera, Staatsbalett Berlin, West Australian Ballet, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. Her rich stage experience and diverse repertoire – from classical and modern ballet to dance theater and improvisation – help her to create unique multimedia performances and cross-genre solo works.

Sasha Pushkin

Like an inspired painter, Russian concert pianist and composer Sasha Pushkin's musical boundary crossings continually create new improvised soundscapes that are an expression of his open, cosmopolitan existence. Pushkin describes his own musical doctrine as "exprovisation". Similar to the cut-up technique of William S. Borroughs, Sasha Pushkin virtuously rips, cuts and restructures the most diverse elements from classical, jazz, avant-garde, minimal, rock and ethno sounds into a flow of interacting sound kaleidoscopes.

Ralf Arndt

Ralf Arndt was born in Munich in 1976. After a four-year stay in London, he moved to Berlin in 2000. At that time he was still working as an assistant director for the independent theater group "companie hemmige ha", but in 2001 he ended the three-year collaboration to go his own way. Via detours, such as his own experimental and scenic short films, model and stage construction, he finally landed in the lighting field. Since 2006, the focus has been on lighting technology and lighting design, especially in the independent scene in Berlin, such as: Ballhaus Ost, English Theatre Berlin, Neuköllner Oper, Sophiensaele, Theater Thikwa. He has also been responsible for lighting design and technical direction for the children's opera at the Bayreuth Wagner Festival, the West End musical "Evita", various children's musicals and art exhibitions.
