How does it feel to be an artist in Brazil and a domestic servant in Germany? The online performance LAURA_AkiO-> PUTZ_trucke initiates a discussion about the work of migrants as domestic servants and the accompanying digital job brokerage platforms. At the same time, it shows the vulnerability of this labor sector, which is always confronted with stigmatization and insufficient social protection, especially during a pandemic.

Laura Carvalho was born in Brazil and works and lives in Berlin. It was inside these apparently hostile environments, where Carvalho found a fruitful place for the development of her performances and visual production. Laura Carvalho in her search for different ways of living/being had worked with people who suffer from mental illness and people facing drug abuse in the context of vulnerability. The dynamic ordinations, precarious and provisional, intrinsic in these environments are the substantial matter of her artwork.
