A world where everything should be possible is racing towards a climate catastrophe: while young people are skipping school to fight for rethinking of climate policy, the field of medicine is busying itself with the immortality of human beings. The 360-degree short film Wüste Zukunft is a lyrical hymn to climate justice that takes the viewer on a journey through desert landscapes. In doing so, the essay-like text revolves around questions of power and practicalities and is accompanied by a futuristic-dystopian soundtrack.

In addition to the open air showing, the film is available online during the festival and can be experienced with your own mobile device. The YouTube app is required and allows watching the 360° by moving the device (download from the Apple App Store or Google Play). For VR glasses or expansion of your smartphone just select the icon in the app. It is recommended to watch the video in a quiet place and enjoy the soundtrack with headphones.
Event notes

In the period from 15:30 to 21:00 you can borrow VR glasses for a deposit and watch the film in the cemetery park / Ballhaus Ost. The glasses are only issued to registered viewers, an identification document and a daily test / a complete vaccination certificate must be presented.

Desert Future is the first collaboration of director and writer Alisa Tretau with spatial artist Theresa Reiwer, sound designer Kenji Tanaka and Ballhaus Ost dramaturg Anne Brammen. Instead of a participatory performance, they experimented with the performance text fragments and 360° film footage from Chile's desert landscapes in the face of unplayable stages, and their first VR video work was created.
